Council rebates for reusable baby & sanitary products (and other cool eco initatives!)

Its so wonderful to see a number of councils with great incentives & workshops in place to support families in switching to reusable products.

QUEENSLAND
Brisbane:
Sustainable Nappy Cashback
As part of the Sustainable Nappy Cashback, Brisbane residents are now able to enter into a monthly draw to win back their investment in reusable nappy products (up to $300 value). Two further prizes of $50 will also be awarded. (includes swim nappies!)
Composting Rebate Program
Composting or worm farming is a fantastic way to reduce your household's food waste going to landfill. Brisbane City Council is making purchasing your organic recycling system easier with our compost rebate program. The program provides eligible Brisbane residents a rebate of up to $70 off the purchase of eligible composting equipment.
Logan City Council
Sustainable Reusable Nappy Draw
As part of the Sustainable Reusable Nappy Draw, Logan residents are now able to enter into a monthly draw to win a $50 Mastercard gift card. Any Logan resident who has purchased $50 or more worth of modern cloth nappy products within the last three months is able to submit an entry. Must provide proof of purchase $50 or more worth of modern cloth nappy products within the last three months. Any of the below products and services are acceptable:
- modern cloth nappies
- reusable nappy liners
- reusable swim nappies
- terry cloth square nappies
- cloth nappy hire service through an Australian Nappy Association accredited business.
VICTORIA
City of Casey
City of Casey residents may receive half of their spend on cloth nappies back up to the value of $150. They can also receive half of their spend on reusable sanitary products up to the value of $100.
Rebate for cloth nappies includes cloth nappies, swim nappies, reusable inner liner for nappies, wet bags, reusable wipes associated with cloth nappies and reusable nursing breast pads.
Rebate for reusable sanitary products include sanitary pads, sanitary cups, leak proof underwear and wet bags.
Wyndham City Council
To celebrate and thank residents making the change to cloth nappies and reusable sanitary items, we are offering a rebate to eligible Wyndham residents.

What can I claim?
Eligible Wyndham residents can apply for one rebate on either:
Cloth nappies - 50% of the purchase price (max $100)
Reusable sanitary products - 50% of the purchase price (max $50)

50% of spend, up to $150 rebated (other criteria applies, see below for more info)
Includes Cloth nappies, reusable swim nappies, reusable sanitary products, reusable inner liners for nappies,
reusable baby wipes, wet bags for reusable nappies and
reusable nursing breast pads.
NEW SOUTH WALES
Wollongong
Wollongong offer free cloth nappy workshops to new and expectant parents. They also talk to ante-natal groups at Wollongong Hospital, and Early Childhood Clinics at Corrimal, Woonona and Thirroul.

Penrith City Council
From Monday 12 October 2020, Penrith Council is offering a trial rebate program for reusable nappy and sanitary products. As part of this program, a 50% rebate is available on eligible items, with a maximum rebate of $100 for reusable cloth nappies and/or reusable sanitary items available per household.

- Reusable cloth and swim nappies
- Reusable inner liner for nappies
- Reusable pilchers
- Reusable wipes

Shire of Augusta Margaret River
The Shire has introduced a program to help parents choose real cloth over disposable nappies. The Shire will subsidies the cost of up to $100* towards the cost of real cloth nappies for families who would like to give real nappies a go!
Disposable nappies are not only a more expensive option over time, but they have a significant environmental impact as they do not easily breakdown in landfills.
